This has a major flaw for kids! The flip lid breaks easily! January 2, 2009 AmazonFan We have had three of these. Two of them have had their flip lids snapped and cracked when my son or daughter dropped them--and kids drop things! The lid is just a very brittle plastic and with a hinge that makes it very vulnerable in a fall. I've temporarily fixed them with superglue but it eventually cracks again. While thermos makes great adult products, a heavy stainless steel can is a lot for a kid. So otherwise its a beautiful mug, but gets very expensive as it breaks and drops. Thermos need to modify this and avoid a design with this brittle flip lid.
Great option for kids! December 28, 2008 R. Schmidt (Los Angeles, CA) Was looking for a stainless steel water bottle for a 2 and 5 yr. old. Tried kleen kanteen but they are hard to hold and not easy to open and they leak! This seems to work good (just got it). Both kids can open and close - it doesn't leak and I like that fact that you can order replacement parts so the product lasts longer. Big bonus- after waiting for them to get back in stock on amazon - we found them at Target for $15! I gave a four star rating only because the snap top construction seems like it could break easily with a drop - only time will tell though!
Keeps drinks COLD and easy to clean December 9, 2008 D. Luckwitz (Cleveland OH) I love the Foogo for my son. It keeps his milk cold ALL day (I add an ice cube), it's easy for him to operate the lid and it's a great size for kids about 14 months through preschool. I don't like the plastic cap on the bottom. It just glued-on and chips, breaks or falls off with a few toddler tosses or drops. And what toddler doesn't throw or drop their cup?!? This is the same product as the Thermos FunTainer - just different colors/designs, and you can often find the FunTainer cheaper. (we have 2) Teach your child to close the lid when done - if they don't, it will leak. Also, check the straw often for holes or tears. Tots love to chew on the silicone straw and it will need replaced. It'll leak if the straw has a small hole, and it can be dangerous if a chunk comes off.
Nice bottle, but had to wait 5 weeks for replacement straws. December 1, 2008 Audrey (Noblesville, IN) My main complaint is the straw is vulnerable to breaking. I called customer service and was put on a five week waiting list. Now the new straw is starting to break. It's a nice bottle and hasn't leaked for us unless the cap isn't snapped shut. It's sort-of a hassle to wash all of the parts.
Better than a sippy cup November 19, 2008 Master Potter (New York, New York) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We've had one for about 8 months now. When we first bought it, my son was about 14 months old and not really liking the traditional sippy cup. He loves to push the button to open it and snap it shut to close. The straw is really soft and surprisingly just about the only thing he *doesn't* chew on! It's very durable and despite some nicks and scratches, it's held up remarkably well against my now 22 month old toddler. After 8 months of constant use and frequent dishwasher (top rack) cleanings the inside parts need replacing. I just called the 1-800 number (in the first review)to order more parts expecting them to be about as much as the bottle itself, but no! The 3-part inside component (sippy straw, under-lid disc & hard straw) cost only $1.00 each!! I ordered 4 (hey, you never know) and including shipping my total order was $7.00.
